Our business establishment in Vietnam 10 years ago
We are a co-operative of Nippon Densan Group's NIDEC Tosok, and in order to meet our customers' needs, we decided to expand our businesses further into Vietnam. Our business establishment in the local area in 2002, that is 4 years ago, was carried out on an owned land of a 5000 m2 area and the floor area for construction became 3800 m2.
Main business activities and company size at present in Vietnam
| |
Now, the number of our employees is less than 200 among which the number of executive officers is around 12~13 |
Can you tell me about your company's trend of business achievement ?
| |
Our company's products include automobile parts. We are continuously making business deals with such customers as manufacturers like Nissan Motor, Fuji Heavy Industries etc. Owing to our customers' supports, our business development has been smooth this year. Export ratio is currently reaching 20-25% and the rest of 75-80% of sales is done in the country. |
By the experience acquired in Vietnam, does your company intend to expand your businesses into other industries ? Also, do you have any business deals made with other foreign companies ?
| |
We have not yet thought about dealing with other fields, but lately a major manufacturer from Korea have sought our business information in Vietnam and just some days ago they held a meeting for a business discussion. |
Evaluating Vietnamese engineers and workers.
| |
Engineers: I offer them high ratings. Only now that it becomes certainly more difficult to employ them than before. Our companies mainly hires vocational schools' graduated students (it is another form of college in Japan)
Workers: I vote them very high. However, some people after being trained by our company have left for others. As another typical example, there have been some who once left us now return to work for us. My company seems to be an easy place to work.
A considerable ratio of job quitters is around 3%. Is it still good anyway ?
|
Could you tell me about your business development plan in Vietnam as well as in ASEAN and China in the future ?
| |
Our factory in Vietnam is at present in our company the largest one including those in Japan. The first two years had been a hard time for us, but our business performance has been better after having moved here. We are considering to acquire a position for our export strength. Also, for furture development, we decided to purchase a land area next to our site. |
I hear that you have been living in Vietnam for 4 years, during 4 years, what difficulties you meet in business ?
| |
Needless to say, I have been struggling a lot against language problems. Now I still do....That is, our company is about manufacturing, so translated words are technical terms. I'll be in trouble if I just use them without thinking they are clearly unusable. This kind of problems is thus leading to other issues about i.e product quality, machine's damages etc. Once a machine gets damaged, to our embarassment, there is no support in Vietnam and we have to invite technicians from Japan. This costs really much. This is likely an important point for those who want to enter Vietnam to take into consideration. |
Finally do you have any words of advice for any businessman who is considering to enter Vietnam from now ?
| |
If I can have a word, from my experience I will advise him to do it quickly. I think the sooner, the more benefits he can contribute to Japan. |
